Hodgepodge Wednesday

So excited to participate in Hodgepodge on the actual day -- today!  Let's get to it...

1. June is National Great Outdoors Month. Have you spent any time appreciating the great outdoors this month? If so where, and if not do you have any plans to enjoy the great outdoors before the calendar turns?
Not yet, but Aspen awaits!

2. What's a current hot button issue for you?
Always, child abuse.  Also, really loving Unreal on Lifetime. It's a drama show about the making of a bachelor-type show. The behind the scenes shenanigans are crazy. Producers offering the staff bonuses if they get the girls to get naked, make out, etc. I'm totally into it because I watch pretty much all reality TV. Probably not the correct answer to the question, but interesting to me.  I'm so shallow.

3. What's a food or treat that 'disappears like hotcakes' in your house?
Chips. I would say Cheetoes, but they rarely enter my house -- I finish them in the car before they make it into the house.

4. How hot is too hot?
Too hot to handle, of course.

5. Do you have an artistic outlook on life? What does that mean to you?
No. I'm a realist, but optimistic. To guess, I'd think someone with an artistic outlook on life doesn't smooth the curl out of their hair.  They like it natural. I pay to remove my curls twice a week.

6. What's one question you'd like to ask your father, or one you wish you could ask your father?
My father died when I was five, so I'd be thrilled to just look at him. I'd probably ask him stupid stuff like, what's your favorite book, song, food.  I'd also love to see my brother get to talk to him. In fact, I'll give John my time.  That would be a real joy. Lots of happy tears when that happens someday in heaven!

7. Something you learned from your father?
Live each day like it's your last.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I'd totally go see the new Magic Mike movie.

    1. You will love it, Katie. I think I've seen about 4 episodes so far, so find it on the net first (or maybe they'll do a day of catch up soon).

  2. So glad you're back this week! Cheetos in the car? My hubs would have a coronary : ) I haven't seen the show Unreal, but it sounds about right. I had to finally give up on the Bachelor/Bachelorette. I think I said that at the end of every season, but I didn't watch the farmer at all. Enjoy your day!

    1. Joyce -- really, I keep my car totally clean. One of the benefits of not having kids and never delivering drinks to anyone! I really only buy Cheetos on holidays because I can't keep them. Oh, and I like the puffy ones...

    2. Also, I quit watching the bachelor years ago too. The girls are just too much.

  3. We got rid of cable a few months ago, so my reality show watching has been dramatically reduced! (Unless I can sneak some in through hulu!)

    1. Oh my goodness, Mary -- I'd have to be comatose to drop my Dish TV. Good for you!

    2. That's what I thought, too, but I really don't miss it!

  4. Well, I'm not a fan of reality TV but other people's comments crack me up when they are talking about it. Magic Mike, now that I would see. Saw the first one - talk about "hot."

  5. I watch reality TV...probably more than I'd care to admit. I'll have to check out "Unreal", for sure.

    1. It's trashy, but the manipulation is almost gory to watch. I love it. I'm not good at it, but so enjoy watching it from the comfort of my living room!

  6. Yeah, I don't even buy Cheetos. They're my absolute favorite and full of poison and totally irresistible!

My mom always told me, Someday you'll appreciate your curls. I'm still waiting. Today is so humid I have it clipped back away from my face. I should just wear a paper bag over my head.

  7. Yes, that's why we can't have chips in the house. Want some rhubarb?

  8. Paige, I'm so glad you visited my blog so I could meet you. We are neighbors as I live in Shreveport and leaving in the morning to attend a weekend wedding at the Crescent Hotel in your fair city. Also, my daughter lives in Dallas. Small world! Please stop by again.

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! To answer your question (about what books I've read so far this summer): "Ghost Boy" (Martin Pistorius), "The Rosie Project" (Don Tillman), "Caught" (Margaret Peterson Haddix), "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" (Mark Haldon), and I just finished "Prisoner B-3087" (Alan Gratz). Any recommendations?
